The Mekong Delta is found in Southwestern Vietnam. The region is called Cuu Long in Vietnamese. Cuu Long means Nine Dragons which symbolizes the nine months that ends the flow of the river as it drifts to the sea. The region spans a total area of 39,734km₂ and includes Vietnamese provinces such as Ben Tre, An Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Dong Thap, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Tien Giang, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, and Tra Vinh.

The Mekong Delta is dubbed as the biggest rice-growing region in Vietnam. Aside from rice, the region also produces other agricultural products in abundance, namely sugarcane, coconut, and all sorts of fruits. The major towns of the region are Can Tho, My Tho, Chau Doc, and Vinh Long. My Tho is the first stop when you visit the region from Ho Chi Minh City. It is a popular destination because of the authentic food and experiences that greet visitors. At My Tho tourists can experience riding the Sampan along the river, go to fruit orchards, and get a taste of local cuisine, namely Elephant’s Ear Fish, which is a renowned local delicacy.

After experiencing My Tho, your next destination is Vinh Long, an island on the Mekong River. A visit to Vinh Long gives you a chance to experience various floating markets which offer different products. To make it easier for potential customers, boats suspend product samples at the tip of a pole. You can also go to riverside workshops, rice huskers, blacksmiths, coffin makers, and other specialty shops. Visiting local fruit orchards, fish farms, and flower markets are other things you can do along the Mekong Delta.

After Vinh Long, you will visit Can tho next. Can Tho province is the commercial and economic center of the Mekong Delta. Can Tho is home to the biggest floating market, Cai Rang. One of the main attractions outside the town is the stork garden in Thot Not. The garden is home to hundreds of cormorants, egrets, and herons on treetops.

The last stop in your tour in this region is Chau Doc. Chau Doc is situated at the foot of Sam Mountain along the border of Cambodia. Chau Doc lets visitors enjoy and experience the large ethnic groups, namely the Khmer, Chinese, and Cham. These ethnic groups have their own culture, architecture, and communities where they practice their religion and the different customs of their community. You can take a boat tour to see the unique floating fish farms, where houses have their own wooden pens suspended under them. Experience all that the Mekong Delta has to offer. You will be taken to unique locations and meet friendly people found nowhere else! Come visit the Mekong Delta and create memories that last a lifetime.
